Authoring books is a very vital part of my life’s journey.
From my earliest memories I had an unquenchable desire to read books. Oh, my! I could not go to bed until I had read a few books. I started out reading picture story books and comics. There were western story books, crime stories, love story books and also comics like “Archie,” “Dennis the Menace” and any other book that I could lay my hands on. Quite frankly, I was a book worm! This was in my earliest years as I remember.

I would absolutely love when my dad would take me to my cousin’s home. The treasure was stashed under their bed. Can I tell you what it was? It was a large suitcase filled to overflowing with all kinds of books and comics. I was having a party! I was gobbling up those books as fast as I could remember. Metaphorically speaking.
I spent my weekends reading and reading and reading. This was whilst my aunt baked the best cakes and biscuits. What a treat!

Then at school I would start reading The Hardy Boys books by Franklin W Dixon and other ghostwriters. I would take a book and read that in one sitting, I read most of The Hardy Boys. Then, in the evening, I would read the James Hadley Chase books. They gripped my attention.

Readers are leaders, they say. That’s what God was creating me to be. Now after reading books I would get into bed early enough, dim the lights and listen to my transistor radio. There were a lot of popular shows like “Ten O’ Clock Tales,” “Consider Your Verdict,” “Squad cars” and many other interesting shows. My imagination was being stirred up! I believe that readers must have a strong sense of imagination.

Now don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t a weirdo or anything like that. I had friends. I enjoyed going to the movies and interacting with friends. I just had an insatiable passion for books. I became a good English student in my class. I also developed musically by playing the guitar, the piano and became a versatile vocalist. Now out of that solid foundation of reading books I can write books. Glory to God!
